Brother Rice relied on the efforts of CJ Gray, who threw for 124 yards and three TDs, and Jameson Davis, who rushed for 99 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Lucas Strang also helped with two scores in total.
Meanwhile, Jacobs' offense rose to the challenge against a Blazers defense that boasted an average of only 13.2 points allowed on Saturday. The Golden Eagles came out on top against Addison Trail by a score of 36-27.
Jacobs' win came from a few key players Brother Rice will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Caden DuMelle, who rushed for 138 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Jacobs is undefeated when DuMelle posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Cannady, who rushed for 163 yards and one TD while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Jacobs proved: they limited Addison Trail to a paltry 3.2 yards per carry. The Golden Eagles didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.8.
Brother Rice's record is now 9-1. As for Jacobs, their record now sits at 7-3.
Saturday's game might be decided on the ground. Brother Rice has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 156.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Jacobs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 260.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Brother Rice against Jacobs in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, as the team secured a 27-0 win. Will the Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
