York-Adams III recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Littlestown, who took down 268th ranked Littlestown, 24-6.
Biglerville extended the longest winning streak in York-Adams III this week by beating the Thunderbolts, 24-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Canners.
Delone Catholic's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brett Smith threw for 114 and two touchdowns and Lance Reneker had 82 yards receiving. On the ground Nick Braun chipped in 140 yards. Austin Noel helped Delone Catholic's passing attack out by catching one ball for 32 yards.
Dustin Crouse provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Littlestown lost to Biglerville. He completed 10 passes for 118 yards and also ran for 59 yards. Crouse's favorite target this week was Nick Hornbrook, who caught five passes for 52 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback James Dougherty of York Catholic is the league leader in passing yards this season with 581. He has also thrown four touchdowns. On the ground, York County Tech's Calvin Savary has rushed for 474 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Hornbrook. The Littlestown star has 20 catches for 246 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Bermudian Springs takes on York Suburban. As it stands, the Eagles are in second, while the Trojans are in third.
There should be lots of points scored when the Squires and Alex Ramos's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Delone Catholic comes in having scored 132 this season, while the Canners have scored 154. Steve Wiles's team scored 42 points last week as it bested York Suburban.
Biglerville moved up to 255 from 377 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in York-Adams III. The Canners climbed the ranks as a result of a 24-6 win over Mike Lippy's team.
