The Marlboro Mustangs had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 26-16 win over South Brunswick on Saturday. The win was a breath of fresh air for Marlboro as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Matthew Cassidy was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry.
Despite the loss, South Brunswick still got an impressive performance from Braden Paulmenn, who rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
Marlboro's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for South Brunswick, their defeat was their third straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 5-5.
Marlboro will square off against Hillsborough at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Hillsborough is ranked 58th, while Marlboro is ranked 49th). South Brunswick does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
