The Wimberley Texans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 67-45 defeat at the hands of Cornerstone Christian. Wimberley lost against Cornerstone Christian in their previous head to head back in November of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 61-54 score last time.
Cornerstone Christian found their leader in underclassman Yasmeen Schmidt, who scored 33 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Schmidt has scored at least 25% of Cornerstone Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Kiana Henning, who scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals.
Wimberley's loss dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Cornerstone Christian, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-8.
Wimberley will square off against Navarro at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cornerstone Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against San Marcos HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in San Marcos HomeSchool's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
