The Davis Pirates put another one in the bag on Sunday to keep their perfect season alive. They managed a 78-72 victory over Canby. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Canby's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jack Brauckmiller, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds, and Jaxon Lawson who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brauckmiller has scored all season. Trevin Slagle was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Davis' win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.3 points per game. As for Canby, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davis won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Eastside Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on December 18th. Eastside Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Davis in Washington (Eastside Catholic is ranked third, while Davis is ranked 45th). Canby will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Albany at 7:30 p.m. on December 28th.
