Sherwood extended the longest winning streak in 5A Northwest Oregon this week by beating Parkrose, 77-16. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Bowmen.
Sherwood took down the Broncos 77-16 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kevin Larkin threw for 162 yards and 4 touchdowns during the win.
Greg Lawrence's team's dynamic duo of Larkin and Zak Taylor proved tough for Parkrose to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Keegan Lawrence helped Sherwood's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 56 yards.
Tyler Booth was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Bowmen defeated Mo France's team. The 6-foot-1 senior recorded 1 fumble.
He went 6-8 with 0 interceptions.
Gage Bumgardner was a passing and rushing force as St. Helens fell to Sandy. He completed 19 passes for 179 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 29 yards. Bumgardner's key target this week was Bryce Bumgardner, who caught 8 passes for 56 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Lions' Bumgardner and Bumgardner have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-3 quarterback Bumgardner has thrown for 839 yards this season, while Bumgardner has 18 catches for 235 yards. Sherwood's Lawrence leads the league in rushing yards with 1,112.
Derek Sunkle of the Wilsonville is just 34 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Sunkle has rushed for 966 yards on 111 carries so far this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Sherwood takes on the Wildcats. At the moment, the Bowmen are in first, while Wilsonville is in third.
There should be lots of points scored when Sherwood and Adam Guenther's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Bowmen comes in having scored 382 this season, while the Wildcats have scored 176. Sherwood scored 77 points last week as it topped the Broncos.
