On Friday, The Chandler Wolves faced the Basha Bears in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Chandler fell to Basha 47-42. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
When it comes to explaining why Chandler lost, one person who can't be blamed is Blake Heffron. Despite the final result, he threw for 330 yards and six touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Another player making a difference was CaLil Valentine, who gained 208 total yards and a touchdown.
Basha's defensive line made their presence known, laying out the QB 5.5 times. Leading the way was Brody Jones and his two sacks.
This is the second loss in a row for Chandler and nudges their season record down to 6-2. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only -3 points. As for Basha, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Chandler will head out on the road to face off against Perry at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Perry knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Chandler likes a good challenge. As for Basha, they will be playing at home against Casteel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Casteel is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
