The Kimberly Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Buhl Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kimberly is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
Kimberly gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Filer 21-11. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly ten runs.
Kimberly got a massive performance out of Gunner Stringham, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Stringham has posted since back in March. Dillon Chiatovich was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Kimberly kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Buhl came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Wildcats. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Not much got past Remington Higley, who gave up just three hits to keep Filer off the board. Higley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
Kimberly has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Buhl, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4.
Buhl's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kimberly hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378. It's a different story for Buhl, though, as they've only averaged .248. Will they be able to contain Kimberly's hitters?
Kimberly might still be hurting after the 10-3 loss they got from Buhl in their previous matchup on April 1st. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
