The Stringer Red Devils will square off against the Northeast Jones Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Stringer will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Wayne County on Saturday. Stringer put the hurt on Wayne County with a sharp 10-3 win.
Jaycee Holifield was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Douglas, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Stringer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northeast Jones). They never let Taylorsville get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Saturday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.
Jillian Butts looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Northeast Jones got a massive performance out of Kylinn Vice, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave Vice a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Whigham, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Stringer pushed their record up to 7-2-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 8.75 hits in those games compared to only 5.17 in the others. As for Northeast Jones, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2-1 record this season.
