Milford has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Milford Tigers and the Draper APA Eagles will round out the year against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at. Draper APA took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Milford, who comes in off a win.
Even though Milford has not done well against Bryce Valley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Milford put the hurt on Bryce Valley with a sharp 48-24 win.
Milford's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kielen Tsosie, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. The game was Tsosie's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanu Aaitui, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Draper APA was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Friday as they fell 59-54 to Gunnison Valley. Draper APA has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Carter Vijayaraghavan, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Ian Campbell, who scored 16 points.
Milford pushed their record up to 5-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Draper APA, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Friday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Milford have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 37.6 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Draper APA, though, as they've been averaging only 31.9 rebounds per game. Given Milford's sizeable advantage in that area, Draper APA will need to find a way to close that gap. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
