Pasadena and Arcadia are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Apaches at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Pasadena took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They snuck past Crescenta Valley with a 27-21 win. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 27-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pasadena to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dutch Burbidge, who rushed for 55 yards and one score on only six carries, and also threw for 195 yards and one touchdown. Synncere Pitts was another key player, gaining 61 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arcadia). They enjoyed a cozy 41-24 victory over Glendale on Friday. The Apaches haven't had any issues with the Nitros recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Pasadena better keep an eye on Addison 'AJ' Pressnall. He was instrumental in Arcadia's win, throwing for 307 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 81 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries. 'AJ' Pressnall's passing game has become a key predictor of the Apaches' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 0-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ethan Long, who gained 180 total yards and two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Arcadia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 276 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Arcadia's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Pasadena, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Burbidge and 'AJ' Pressnall. Burbidge just won't slow down this season and has thrown 24 touchdowns (and and only 4 pick) while averaging 260 passing yards per game. 'AJ' Pressnall has been a dominant force too and has thrown 13 touchdowns while averaging 222.6 passing yards per game.
We should be in store for an exciting game as Pasadena and Arcadia have no problem gaining yardage. The Bulldogs have been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 383.1 total yards per game. However, it's not like Arcadia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 385.6 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
