Lawrenceville ended up on the wrong side of a rough 61-37 walloping at the hands of the Tigers. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lawrenceville in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost eight in a row.
Lawrenceville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addeline Sanders, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds. Keely Breen was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Lawrenceville struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Richland County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyrstin Weiler, who scored 18 points. Weiler continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Danielle Reagan Brown, who scored six points along with 17 rebounds and five blocks.
Lawrenceville has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Richland County, the victory got them back to even at 13-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrenceville will take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Paris presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Indians in Illinois (the Tigers are ranked 167th, while the Indians are ranked 505th). As for Richland County, they and the Trojans will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Charleston is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
