The Grandview Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Bourbon War Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Grandview has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Grandview came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 17-0 to Oak Ridge. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Blue Jays: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bourbon). They were the clear victors by a 27-2 margin over Steelville on Monday. Considering the War Hawks have won six games by more than 14 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Annalise Gobin made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bourbon got a massive performance out of Kenzey Waldron, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double. The dominant performance also gave Waldron a new career-high in hits (three). Lauryn Hercules was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Bourbon's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.7 runs over those games. As for Grandview, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Grandview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .486. However, it's not like Bourbon struggles in that department as they've averaged .569. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Grandview might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Bourbon when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
