After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Jefferson, Edison was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 15-11 victory over the Brackenridge Eagles. The Golden Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Joanna Gutierrez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and seven unearned) runs off ten hits. Gutierrez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Edison got a massive performance out of Aaliyah Rodriguez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Rodriguez a new career-high. Melanie Medrano was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
