The HOPE Christian Academy Lions can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Varsity Opponent 60-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Malik Battiste was on fire: he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Eathon Atkins was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
HOPE Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Varsity Opponent, their defeat was their 17th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 307-1181-2.
HOPE Christian Academy will square off against Wilson Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Varsity Opponent on the road again on Friday and play against Balboa School at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th.
