The Sacred Heart Knights waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Council Grove 65-48. Given Sacred Heart's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Council Grove is ranked 173rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Council Grove still got an impressive performance from Kolby Rose, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Kyzer Spittles, who scored 11 points.
Sacred Heart's victory bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Council Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.
Sacred Heart will be playing in front of their home fans against Beloit at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sacred Heart is coming into the matchup with 11 straight victories at home, so Beloit is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Council Grove, they will head out on the road to take on Central Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Central Heights will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Council Grove surely won't give up without a fight.
