Wautoma scaled the state rankings by moving to 167 from 212 this week, the biggest jump in South Central. The Hornets were able to move up by beating Mauston 48-8.
Wautoma led the league in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on the Golden Eagles.
Westfield Area's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Alex Slowey threw for 59 yards and Greg Winkelman had 84 yards receiving. On the ground Slowey contributed 184 yards.
Winkelman was the best receiver in the league this week as the Pioneers lost to Nekoosa. Winkelman racked up 2 receptions for 84 yards.
Westfield Area's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Pioneers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Slowey has thrown for 620 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Tyler Janke has 13 catches for 350 yards. Slowey also leads the league in rushing with 625 yards.
As it stands, the Papermakers are in first, while the Hornets are in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Nekoosa takes on Wautoma. Scott Hilber's team has allowed 93 points this season, while the Hornets have given up 129.
Wautoma made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,642 from 8,008. The improvement was largely due to a 48-8 victory over Mauston last week.
