Basketball Game Preview: Jackson Red Devils vs. Academy for Classical Education Gryphons

The Jackson Red Devils will venture away from home to take on the Academy for Classical Education Gryphons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jackson has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with five straight defeats, while Academy for Classical Education will come in with four straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Jackson came up short against Lamar County and fell 47-37. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 385th, while the Trojans are ranked 152nd).

Despite their loss, Jackson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sophie Logan, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards, was perhaps the best of all. That's the most points Logan has posted since back in January. Cierra Moore was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Academy for Classical Education won against Pike County on Saturday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Academy for Classical Education put the hurt on Twiggs County with a sharp 49-26 win. The Gryphons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 23 points or more this season.

Jackson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Academy for Classical Education, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
