After two games on the road, Mariemont is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mariemont knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Madeira likes a good challenge.
Mariemont scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They managed a 85-80 victory over Conner. Given Mariemont's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 45th in Ohio, while Conner is ranked 179th in Kentucky), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Madeira, who are still winless after their fifth game. They fell 55-48 to Indian Hill on Tuesday.
Madeira's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Colin Miranda, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 0 assists, and Peter Laux who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. Laux also posted two blocks for the first time this season.
Mariemont's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Madeira, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5.
Mariemont couldn't quite finish off Madeira in their previous matchup back in January and fell 53-50. Can Mariemont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
