Basketball Game Preview: Chatham Central Bears vs. North Moore Mustangs

Chatham Central has gone 10-0 against North Moore recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Chatham Central Bears will look to defend their home court against the North Moore Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chatham Central has three straight wins, North Moore has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Chatham Central earned a 52-43 victory over Seaforth.

Chatham Central had a senior duo take command as Reid Albright dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards and Brennen Oldham went 8 of 16 on his way to 20 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Albright has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last 36 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Gaines, who posted four points and five assists.

Meanwhile, North Moore came up short against Jordan-Matthews on Tuesday and fell 63-53.

Chatham Central will have to contain Colby Pennington as he made an impact in North Moore's last game. He dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 boards. Blake Pennington was another key player, putting up four points and six rebounds.

North Moore's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Chatham Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

Chatham Central took their win against North Moore when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 85-64. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Pennington, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine boards.
