The Harvester Christian Academy Hawks won the last time they faced the Flint River Academy Wildcats, and things went their way on Friday too. Harvester Christian Academy walked away with a 40-32 win over Flint River Academy.
Harvester Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Kaitlyn Mercier, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Mercier has scored at least a third of Harvester Christian Academy's points. Riley Robinson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Flint River Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rhyan Banks, who scored four points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jacee Matheny, who scored five points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Flint River Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harvester Christian Academy only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Harvester Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Flint River Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harvester Christian Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Heritage Preparatory at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. As for Flint River Academy, Flint River Academy and Lafayette Christian will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Lafayette Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
