This season hasn't been kind to the Unity Christian Knights, who are still winless after their seventh contest. The game between Unity Christian and Galesburg Christian wasn't particularly close, with Unity Christian falling 59-42. Unity Christian lost against Galesburg Christian in their previous head to head back in November, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 40-23 score last time.
Unity Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carsen Bennett, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Foust, who scored nine points.
Andrew Summers was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 17 rebounds for Galesburg Christian. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. Ryan Walker was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Unity Christian bumped their record down to 0-7 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.9 points per game. As for Galesburg Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Unity Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Varsity Opponent at 5:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. As for Galesburg Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Pathway Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pathway Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 188 points over their last three matches.
