Mardela is 2-8 against Wicomico since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mardela Warriors will look to defend their home court against the Wicomico Indians at 4:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Mardela beat Holly Grove Christian 20-13. The victory was just what Mardela needed coming off of a 51-10 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Wicomico put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 60-14 victory over Bennett on the road. The victory was familiar territory for Wicomico who now have four in a row.
Wicomico found their leader in underclassman Se'Lah Foreman, who scored 24 points along with seven steals and five assists. Foreman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Corbin, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Mardela's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Wicomico, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Mardela was taken down by Wicomico 70-10 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Foreman, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 steals. Now that Mardela knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
