Bainbridge and Westover are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Bainbridge Bearcats' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Westover Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Bainbridge earned a 56-47 win over Thomas County Central. Given Bainbridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Thomas County Central is ranked 294th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Westover had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.1 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They walked away with a 40-33 win over Tift County.
Westover can attribute much of their success to Anthony Milton, who scored eight points along with four steals, and Bryson Carter, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Traveion Wheeler, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Bainbridge's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Westover, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Bainbridge came up short against Westover when the teams last played on January 5th, falling 54-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wheeler, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
