Given Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while Oakwood is ranked 428th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Claire Seal, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond's points. Alayna Plank was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 6 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Oakwood had strong showings from Nikita Taylor, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals, and Jaydah Arrowsmith, who scored 14 points along with 6 assists and 4 steals. The game was Arrowsmith's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Hanner, who scored 4 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Oakwood, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond will take on Maroa-Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakwood, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Rantoul at 11:00 a.m. on December 2nd.
