The Lely Trojans will challenge the Aubrey Rogers Patriots on Thursday. Aubrey Rogers took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Lely, who comes in off a win.
Lely is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 61-17 victory over Bonita Springs. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 22 points or more this season.
Fara Louissaint was her usual excellent self, going 10 for 16 on her way to 25 points along with five boards and five steals. Abigael Francois was another key player, going 6 of 10 en route to 12 points in addition to six assists and three steals.
Lely was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.
Meanwhile, Aubrey Rogers came up short against Gateway on Thursday and fell 56-46.
Lely will need focus on slowing down Angelina Insana, one of several Aubrey Rogers players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Insana has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 43 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ella Johnson, who put up 17 points.
Lely has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36.8 points. As for Aubrey Rogers, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lely has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Aubrey Rogers struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
