The Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners will head out on the road to challenge the Desert Oasis Diamondbacks at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Southeast Career Tech knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Desert Oasis likes a good challenge.
Desert Oasis' hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Southeast Career Tech hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Roadrunners were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Spring Valley on Thursday. Considering the Roadrunners have won 12 matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Laila Esparza made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Neveah Fuller was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Bella Lemus was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Southeast Career Tech was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .448 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Desert Oasis was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They lost 10-0 to Centennial. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Diamondbacks were not able to get on the board.
Desert Oasis saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Veyda Simon, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Southeast Career Tech has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Desert Oasis, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7-1.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southeast Career Tech hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .421. However, it's not like Desert Oasis struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Southeast Career Tech was able to grind out a solid victory over Desert Oasis in their previous meeting on April 9th, winning 10-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Roadrunners since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
