Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Archbishop McNicholas Rockets, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They and Clinton-Massie were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Archbishop McNicholas suffered an agonizing 24-23 loss. While losing is never fun, Archbishop McNicholas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Clinton-Massie is ranked 34th).
Among those leading the charge was Cooper Carmack, who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Carmack was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Clinton-Massie's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Elijah Groh and his two sacks.
Archbishop McNicholas' loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Clinton-Massie, their win was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 12-0.
