Valparaiso is 7-2 against Michigan City since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Valparaiso Vikings will be staying on the road to face off against the Michigan City Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Valparaiso focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Valparaiso was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-41 to Lake Central. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Valparaiso has scored all season.
Valparaiso's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Becca Gerdt, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Lillian Barnes who scored 20 points along with seven assists and six steals. Barnes is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last six games she's played.
Meanwhile, Michigan City ended up a good deal behind Culver Academies on Tuesday and lost 59-40.
Valparaiso's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Michigan City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Valparaiso against Michigan City in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 59-23 victory. With Valparaiso ahead 41-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
