Northeastern won the last time they faced Tri, and Trent Deloney did his part to make sure it happened again. The Knights walked away with a 62-49 win over the Titans on Friday for which the team can thank Deloney, who picked up 161 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 67 yards.
Northeastern didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Deloney and Quanell Denton. Another thorn in Tri's side was Kale Hansen, who picked up a sack and made 15 total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Despite the loss, Tri had strong showings from Isaiah Dewitt, who rushed for 136 yards and one score on only 11 carries, and Masyn Chalfant, who rushed for 148 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Chalfant's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 131 rushing yards dating back to last season. Cooper Engle helped out on the ground, rushing for 83 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Northeastern has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 59.5 points this season. As for Tri, their record is now 1-1.
