The Tyler Lions scored first but ultimately less than the Longview Lobos in their game on Friday. Their tough 34-12 loss to the Lobos might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tyler in their matchups with Longview: they've now lost seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Tyler lost, one person who can't be blamed is Derrick Mcfall. Despite the final result, he gained 100 total yards and a touchdown.
Longview got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylor Tatum out in front who rushed for 232 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Tatum's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Another player making a difference was Kelvin Washington, who gained 223 total yards and three touchdowns.
Tyler's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Longview, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Tyler will be playing at home against Forney on Friday. Forney is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Longview, they will challenge West Mesquite at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Mesquite is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
