North East is 0-10 against Rising Sun since April of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Indians will challenge the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. North East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, North East had just enough and edged out Harford Tech 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Cobras: they've now won four in a row.
Jazmyn Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Taylor Zellner was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, while Rising Sun put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Havre de Grace. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Warriors. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Madison Ore made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gemma Brand, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles.
North East's record is now 3-1. As for Rising Sun, their record now sits at 2-3.
Rising Sun's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North East hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. It's a different story for Rising Sun, though, as they've only averaged .243. Will they be able to contain North East's hitters?
North East couldn't quite finish off Rising Sun in their previous meeting on Friday and fell 5-3. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
