Meanwhile, Mechanicville made easy work of Berlin/New Lebanon on Thursday and carried off a 14-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Red Raiders, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Paige Rogers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Riley LaPierre was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Beuchner, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Mechanicville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Mechanicville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Emma Willard, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.
Emma Willard suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Mechanicville in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Jesters avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
