Mississinewa has gone a perfect 8-0 against Wabash recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Indians will head out to face off against the Apaches at 5:30 p.m. Mississinewa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Mississinewa needed a bit of extra time to put away Bellmont. They skirted past the Braves 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won three in a row.
Charleigh Baledge was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Baledge was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4. Those home runs were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Mississinewa let Jaeli Miller and Amiyaa Parr-Inman run wild. Miller went 2-for-3 with one run and one double, while Parr-Inman went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple was Parr-Inman's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Genna Couse, who went 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI.
Mississinewa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wabash, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Marion 5-4. The Apaches' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Wabash saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lataya Judy, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Kaitlynn Honeycutt was another, earning one RBI and two runs.
Wabash's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Mississinewa, their record now sits at 5-1.
Wabash's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mississinewa hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. It's a different story for Wabash, though, as they've only averaged .220. Will they be able to contain Mississinewa's hitters?
Everything went Mississinewa's way against Wabash in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Mississinewa made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
