The Colorado Wolves will square off against the Eldorado Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colorado is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Colorado blew Sonora out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Sonora got their revenge. The Wolves fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolves have suffered since February 26th.
Talan Arguijo put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Arguijo was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Eldorado made sure to put some runs up on the board against Miles on Friday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Colorado, Eldorado also got a great game from a two-way player: Jonnie Adame. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Adame has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Brason Brock was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brindon Gamez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Eldorado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Eldorado is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Colorado, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Colorado has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. However, it's not like Eldorado struggles in that department as they've averaged .467. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Colorado might still be hurting after the 19-9 loss they got from Eldorado when the teams last played back in March. Will the Wolves have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
