The Wilde Lake Wildecats will head out to square off against the Atholton Raiders at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Wilde Lake has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Wilde Lake lost 12-2 to Long Reach on Wednesday. The Wildecats have struggled against the Lightning recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Wilde Lake saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camille Coleman, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Gabrielle Gyebi also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Atholton never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over Oakland Mills.
Lauren Latour and Maddie Rickets were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Latour tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rickets tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Latour got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Rickets got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Reagan Law and Sophie Morton did most of the damage at the plate: Law got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Morton went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Law has posted since back in March of 2025. Morgan Perry was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Atholton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakland Mills only posted an OBP of .478.
Wilde Lake's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Atholton, their record is now 1-0.
Wilde Lake might still be hurting after the 19-3 defeat they got from Atholton in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Wildecats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
