The Moanalua Menehune will head out on the road to face off against the Kaiser Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Moanalua focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Moanalua's four-game losing streak came to an end. They came out on top against Roosevelt by a score of 65-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Moanalua can attribute much of their success to Gavin Pommerenk, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Kimbrough, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Kaiser's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Thursday after their 11th straight loss. They fell to Farrington 57-53.
Moanalua's victory bumped their record up to 8-18. As for Kaiser, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-17.
Everything came up roses for Moanalua against Kaiser when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 71-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moanalua since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
