NCSSM: Morganton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a 71-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Madison. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
NCSSM: Morganton's loss came despite strong showings from Lawson Taylor and Vedant Chanshetty. Taylor scored 23 points, while Chanshetty scored 22 points. That was a full 35.9% of NCSSM: Morganton's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Centurion Tzendzalian, who scored 11 points.
Madison found their leader in underclassman Gavin Gault, who scored 24 points. Gault is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady McDevitt, who scored 15 points.
NCSSM: Morganton dropped their record down to 4-9 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Madison, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. NCSSM: Morganton will challenge the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Avery County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully the like a good challenge. As for Madison, they will head out on the road to take on the Warhorses at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Owen is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.7 points per game this season.
