Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Elijah Garza and Carter Chapman Lead Buhach Colony to Victory

Buhach Colony entered their tilt with El Dorado on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 78-69 victory over the El Dorado Cougars.

Leading Buhach Colony to victory were Carter Chapman and Elijah Garza. Chapman almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine boards, while Garza went 7 of 11 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight assists and three steals. That's the most assists Garza has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Cortez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Buhach Colony was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, El Dorado had strong showings from Logan Baker, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards, and Drew Bird, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 22 points. Baker has been hot for a while, having posted 18 or more points the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan McCarty, who posted nine points and seven assists.

Buhach Colony has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for El Dorado, they dropped their record down to 7-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Buhach Colony wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-34 loss against Turlock on the 6th. As for El Dorado, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-67 defeat against Argonaut on the 7th.
