The Bayard Tigers lost against the Perkins County Plainsmen back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Bayard was outmatched by Perkins County on the road and fell 73-33. Bayard was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-16.
Bayard's loss came despite strong showings from Sam Ferrero and Joe Hopkins. Ferrero scored nine points along with eight rebounds, while Hopkins scored 14 points. Hopkins is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight.
Bayard's loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-15. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.5 points per game. As for Perkins County, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Bayard didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-34 loss vs. South Platte on the 8th. Perkins County has also already played their next match, a 42-37 victory against Sandhills Valley on the 9th.
