The Marlin Bulldogs entered their tilt with the Mart Panthers with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Marlin took their game at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 80-30 win over Mart. Marlin has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 22 points or more this season.
Marlin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacorian Johnson led the charge by scoring 14 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Johnson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aarik Smith-shelley, who scored ten points along with five steals and four blocks.
Marlin pushed their record up to 9-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Mart, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marlin will square off against Riesel at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Riesel is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. Mart will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Bremond at 7:15 p.m. on January 23rd.
