The Springstead Eagles entered their tilt with the Land O' Lakes Gators with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Springstead managed a 57-53 win over Land O' Lakes on Wednesday. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to 11 on the offensive boards, as Springstead did.
Springstead was led to victory by Austin Nicholson and Nick Cordero. Nicholson scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and five assists, while Cordero scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Zion McKenzie was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Several Gators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Massie, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Massie is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nash Patapoff, who scored eight points along with five assists and four steals.
Springstead has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Land O' Lakes, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springstead will take on Lecanto at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lecanto is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. As for Land O' Lakes, they will head out on the road to square off against Sunlake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sunlake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Tuesday.
