Basketball Recap: Pueblo's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Pueblo was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Hayden on Friday. The Pueblo Warriors blew past the Hayden Lobos, posting a 68-37 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their 11-game losing streak.

Leading Pueblo to victory were Silverio Rivera and Anthony Carranza. Rivera went 7 of 12 from beyond the arc on his way to 21 points, while Carranza posted 14 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Those 21 points gave Rivera a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Samsin Mccarthy, who had two points and 12 rebounds.

Pueblo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in four consecutive games.

Pueblo's win bumped their record up to 3-12. As for Hayden, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Pueblo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 42-35 victory against St. David on the 21st. After both having extra time off, Hayden and Fort Thomas will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
