The Blanchester Wildcats will square off against the Clermont Northeastern Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Blanchester has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Blanchester is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Williamsburg just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Williamsburg, falling 22-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Blanchester has suffered since April 16th.
Alayna Davenport made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. Tatum Strange was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Clermont Northeastern got themselves on the board against Cincinnati Country Day on Wednesday, but Cincinnati Country Day never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Nighthawks with a sharp 15-0 victory. Considering the Rockets have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jenna Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Addisyn Baker was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Clermont Northeastern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cincinnati Country Day only posted an OBP of .118.
The win made it two in a row for Clermont Northeastern and bumps their season record up to 8-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Blanchester, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
