The Proviso East Pirates were the 56-55 winner over the Oak Park-River Forest Huskies when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Proviso East took a 51-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies on Tuesday. Proviso East has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Zulema Montoya and Ava Kimble certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Montoya scored 16 points, while Kimble scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kimble has scored all season.
Oak Park-River Forest found their leader in underclassman Taryn Draine, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Genevieve Simkowski, who scored ten points.
Proviso East has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Oak Park-River Forest, their victory bumped their record up to 5-18.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Proviso West the next time they take the court. Oak Park-River Forest will host Proviso West at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Proviso East will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
