Baseball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Bishop Stang's Winning Streak

Bishop Stang lost against Durfee back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Spartans took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hilltoppers. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Bishop Stang saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt Burt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Bishop Stang's defeat dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Durfee, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Stang will square off against Apponequet Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Lakers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Durfee, they will take on Somerset Berkley Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hilltoppers 2.6, the Raiders 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
