In what's become a running theme this season, the Lamar County Bulldogs gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past Berry, posting a 61-33 victory on the road. That's another feather in the cap for Lamar County, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Maggie Mauldin and Rylee Hill certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Mauldin dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Hill dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Hill is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Anna Palmer, who scored four points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, Berry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lamar County's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11. As for Berry, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.
Lamar County is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Yellowjackets at 11:00 a.m. on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Alabama (Winston County is ranked 344th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 348th). As for Berry, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hubbertville will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
