Central hasn't had much luck against Hewitt-Trussville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Central Red Devils will take on the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Central has three straight wins, Hewitt-Trussville has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Central's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Rehobeth.
Not much got past Kayla Storey, who gave up just a hit to keep Rehobeth off the board. That's the fewest hits Storey has allowed since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Allyson Supan was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Mariah Harrison was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Hewitt-Trussville fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Austin on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Black Bears by a score of 11-9. One positive for the Huskies, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Gracie Reeves was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Presley Hull also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Central's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Hewitt-Trussville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Both Central and Hewitt-Trussville just can't seem to miss. Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Hewitt-Trussville struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Central couldn't quite finish off Hewitt-Trussville when the teams last played back in February of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
