Gonzales extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 8-10. They came up short against the Navarro Panthers, falling 17-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on Friday.
Gonzales saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brodi Ramos, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Dayton McCray also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
As for Navarro, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Navarro, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
On Navarro's side, Ryan Davidson made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Davidson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Xavier Calderon looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew Mundine, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Rosas, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gonzales will take on rival La Vernia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Navarro is set to square off against their familiar foe Cuero at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
