Juab is 8-2 against Manti since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wasps will welcome the Templars at 3:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Juab is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Canyon View, who was ranked 16th at the time (Juab was ranked 23rd). The Wasps skirted past the Falcons 5-4. The win was nothing new for the Wasps as they're now sitting on five straight.
Austin Park made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Park was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Connor Cowan was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Trevin Park was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Manti posted their closest victory since April 10th on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Richfield 17-16. The victory continues a trend for the Templars in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.
Manti saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Keisel, who went 2-for-4 with six RBI and three runs. The Templars are undefeated when Keisel posts two or more runs, but 9-10 otherwise. Another was Mason Cherry, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Manti lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Juab's win bumped their record up to 19-5. As for Manti, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.
Juab's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's match. The Wasps have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Manti, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Juab continue to outrun the ball?
Juab was able to grind out a solid win over Manti in their previous meeting on Monday, winning 8-5. Will the Wasps repeat their success, or do the Templars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
